August 5, 2002
Bob Brink came in and we went over cash flow spread sheet. He had several suggestions as to where to cut. Got to keep going forward.

Worked all day trying to get museum campaign going. Many calls. Also worked with Gus on getting a map of Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid shootout in Bolivia. It's going to be great. Dan Buck, our guest editor is amazing.

Got a massage at 4 ($55 house check), then came back to office and worked on business timeline for the year 2000 to put up on the website. I intend to show the entire bloody arc of how we bought the magazine, all of the false turns, stupid hires, backstabbing employees, warts and all. It’s actually kind of galvanizing to read because I feel like if I can survive that, I can survive anything!

Came home around seven, had dinner (leftover pizza) and talked to Kathy about all the stupid things I’ve done trying to get this magazine up and running (I was telling her some of the more blundering excerpts from my journal).

Read the new Rolling Stone with Bruce on the cover (they are skewing way too young for me, had a whole page on cunnilingus songs and the lyrics, and I probably won’t renew my sub: now I know how my older readers feel).

Kathy woke up at 2:30 in the morning, mulling what I said at dinner. She's very worried about the future of the mag and me. Thinks I’m way too scattered (wants me to have a brain scan to discover why I’m so ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder). She thinks this whole “business timeline” for the web is way off purpose and a waste of time. Is it?
