My old Kingman compadre, James Covarrubius turned up on the cover of the Arizona Republic this morning. He, and fellow New Times alum Ruben Hernandez, are putting on a Latin Art Show tonight at their new space three doors east of the Matador deep inside the Beast.

Speaking of old friends and art, I went home for lunch today and whipped out several patina paintings:



According to my dictionary (Oxford American) Patina literally means "a film, usually green, formed on the surface of old bronze." It has been expanded here to mean happy accidents simulating rusty-like patterns or funky effects. I don't know why but doing these is very therapeutic to me. It's as relaxing and soothing as drinking a beer on Friday night. Here's another one:
