Heading to work on Sandy Beach

June 2, 2019
Our casita at Rocky Point overlooks the horse rental corner on Sandy Beach. I am intrigued by these beasts of burden who stand along a fence line all day with saddles on and rarely get ridden.

Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth the owner's effort to cart them out here, since so few people seem to be interested in a horseback ride. I wasn't watching every second, but yesterday I noticed maybe three or four paying riders.

This morning, I spied the trucks at the top of the hill delivering the ponies for their daily descent onto the beach and, just for grins, decided to document their daily commute.

A Day at The Office

Yes, even on vacation I feel like I need to be documenting something. A busman's holiday, as they used to say when Ralph Kramden drove a bus for a living and then drove his family on holiday to a beach where they could rent horses.

Full Disclosure
At about six in the evening, people started renting rides and by seven p.m. all the horses were rented.

Every horse rented by 7 p.m.

—Said no saddled horse on the beach ever
