Our family traveled to Lincoln, New Mexico almost every summer, from 1989 to about 1996, when I was doing serious research for my Billy the Kid books (I published my first book on the Kid in 1992, then totally revised it for the second edition in 1996).
We invariably stayed at Casa de Patron and the visits were half vacation and half research and, for me, it was hard to tell where one ended and the other began. I started a tradition that, at the end of each stay, Deena and Tommy would pose in front of the Lincoln County Courthouse, before we left.
My kids being kids in the Kid's town.

He is dressed as a peon and his staff is but a walking stick. Or is it?
"Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me."
