Scratchboard City Revisited

 December 9, 2020

I have a few friends—okay, more than a few—who harrangue me constantly about my scratchboards. They invariably implore me to, "Quit wasting your time on gouache and do what you do best."

   Okay.

Daily Scratchboard Whip Out:
"Raymond Loves Mules, It's In The Eyes"

   Here's one in progress:

Daily Scratchboard Whip Out In Progress:

"Badass Bass: A Black Man In A White Hat"

Here's one of my all time faves:

Daily Scratchboard Whip Out:
"Doc In Shadows"

And here is a golden oldie that will appear on the hardbound cover of BtKIII:

Daily Flashback Scratchboard Whip Out:
"Billy Was Born to Run"

And here's the founder of the feast:

Daily Scratchboard Whip Out:
"Walter Noble Burns"

Okay, one more for old scratch sake.

Daily Flashback Scratchboard Whip Out:

"Curly Bill by Fly"

"When I travel, I always go to the local museums, because that's where you find something different. They always have famous paintings, but there will be something interesting, too, about local culture, and that's where I get my ideas from."

—John-Paul Gaultier, French "enfant terrible" fashion designer
