Daily Scratchboard Whip Out:
"Last Fandango at The Heatwave Cafe"
But there is also something to be said for solid definition. Here is one of my graphic heroes at his best.
A Classic Hohlwein Horse
That would be Ludwig Hohlwein, a German graphic designer and commercial artist of the 1920-40 era. Note the specific highlights (no blended highlights) and sharply-etched-edges. So damn cool. Everything gets deliniated down to simple shapes amid a strong design. So damn German!
The Bold And The Beautiful
Soldaderas, also called adelitas, were female soldiers of the Mexican Revolution and they continue to fascinate me.
Daily Whip Out: "Nina Adelita Suprema"
Seems like there should be a good legendary character in there somewhere, and, perhaps Nina Suprema is the ticket to that dance.
