Sometimes people try to tell me that women in the past were not as beautiful as those of today. I simply show them this photo and tell them to get a clue.
Old West era Beauty
Believe it or not, sometimes I find new stuff about my early life that I have never seen before:
Al Bell's Flying A Station On Legendary Route 66
Wow! Cool feature. The web address for this was actually in a proposal for a BBB statue in Kingman. Here's the front of the proposal:
A Day That Will Live In Epiphany
Well, I was at the centennial, in October of 1981, and I was at the 125th anniversary, so I suppose I'd better get my behind down to Tombstone for the 140th. I'll see you there.
I'll be there at 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon, to walk where they walked, and talk where they talked.
"Well, you could have phoned that one in."

I would love to be in Tombstone for that but travel logistics will prevent me from going. I'll just have to read my Classic Gunfights 2 and watch Tombstone again that day. Duelist TW Maniac 235
ReplyDeleteI hate to tell you that your old west beauty above is not old. What gave it away was the makeup, again. Women didn't have false eyelashes back then. This is a modern woman recreating a photo of model and actress Evelyn Nesbit from 1902. Here's the original photo of Evelyn on Wikipedia, scroll down on the right: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evelyn_Nesbit
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the make up and false eye lashes. They look like eye blankets. I would love to see an authentic western done right.
