I have been singing the lyrics to "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by the Rolling Stones for fifty years and never knew the answer to this question: what is a crossfire hurricane?
Until today.
"Jumpin' Jack Flash" by the Rolling Stones was number one on the British Billboard pop chart 50 years ago today. According to a biography of Keith Richards, the first line of the song, "I was born in a crossfire hurricane," is a reference to the fact that Richards was born near London during World War II in the midst of a German air raid.
Well, what did we expect? If you ask me, he acts just like he was born during an air raid.
A Sneak Peek at A Sue Retrospective
"Last Fandango at The Heatwave Cafe"
"I've been called a high steppin' filly and a low down dirty whore, but I finally made up my mind that at the end of this ride I'll be camping alone."
—Honkytonk Sue
And, what exactly possessed me to write that? A certain "Fleabag."
"You have to write something that is more dangerous, more honest, more provocative."
—Phoebe Waller-Bridge
