So what is the perfect birthday gift for a guy my age?
This morning at about 5:30, Kathy said to me: "I want to go get you huevos rancheros for your birthday," and I told her I would be so happy, so very happy, to go WITH her, so we drove up to Filliberto's (open 24 hours), which is in the old Z's location, east of the Dairy Queen and we ordered huevos in the dark and ate them there.
The birthday boy gets his wish
As you may, or may not know, I absolutely love getting up early and getting out on the road, like my father always did, and then eating huevos rancheros at some dive cafe. The beauty of this "trip" is that we drove home from Filliberto's and it took 12 minutes. Now, at my age—73—THAT is my kind of road trip!
"The road is the only thing."
—Some writer guy when asked what was more satisfying, the road to success or arriving at success?
I hope you had an enjoyable day and certainly, Huevos Rancheros is an excellent start. I just discovered your site from an article on Harvey Logan and very pleased that there are some people around who enjoy looking deeper into the history of the old west. I must admit that I am still somewhat doubtful that the the bandit found in Parachute was Mr. Logan. I shall read more and if I can find something to share I will do so. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Bob! Wishing you many more happy times!
