After my soggy walk and a Bev Deluxe haircut I came back to the studio and got right into it. I really didn't know where this was going, but I had a hunch, and kept pushing the shapes to see where they'd go.

"Pushing The Shapes #4"
The process of pushing shapes for me is enhanced when I don't care about the outcome but continue to look for emerging tones in counter-intuitive ways.

Ride The Tension!
Most speakers take the first minute of their talk thanking the person who introduced them, thanking the audience for showing up and blathering about what they will be talking about. According to Neil Gordon, this destroys valuable tension. He recommends starting right in with a story, preferably starting in the middle of a story and then if you can pull it off, end the story with a reversal, or a cliff hanger, that you will pick up and answer later. None of this is new but it sure is informative for anyone who gives talks, or, for that matter, tells stories. Use the tension, hang on, and ride it like a wild horse.
"The wildest colts make the best horses."
