Naptime for The Duke of Dust

   What is the true significance of a dust storm? When I was growing up, these Mohave County storms often enveloped our town, our house and me and my dog Pal. And, to be honest, they haunt me to this day.

   Dust shows up in so much of the work I do, especially when I doodle. It's a subconscious thing. Or something.

   Someone asked me once, how I want to be remembered and without even thinking I said, as the Duke of Dust. I don't even know where that came from.

   Sometimes dust storms are part of bigger storms.

   And sometimes, when you are creating dust devil pictures you discover a respite in the storm.

The Patient Dog

   I was painting some of these dust themed images yesterday and happened to look towards my studio front door to see this. Ha. There he is, Uno patiently waiting for me to take a nap. Ha. It's true. I typically work in my studio from seven to about 11:30 and then I go take a nap. Uno knows the drill and is patiently waiting for the old man to get with the program.

    When I shared this photo, above, with Carole Glenn, she quipped: "You need a studio for your studio!"

   True that!
