Yes, it's true, I actually drove down into the Beast on Friday night to hang out in a bar for three hours and then drive home. I haven't really done this since about 1992, but what the hey, it was homework for a good cause. And, yes, it was way too loud, but then I have tortured so many people when I was in rock bands over multiple decades I can't really complain, but sometimes I still do (obscure Joe Walsh reference)
"Who You Callin' Pendejo? Pendejo!"

All that said, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers are serious Rockers and they played a very dynamic and worthy set. Totally Rocked that joint.
The Peacemakers In Action
at The Rock Bar in Scottsdale last night. I got home at 10:45 p.m. Oh, the humanity!
To me, it had a very Beatlesque In The Caverns vibe, long narrow room, intimate crowd, volume turned up to 11. I stood for over two hours!
At one point I went over to a security guard (he was perhaps 15 going on 26, with the word SECURITY on his T-Shirt) and I leaned in to ask him—yelling of course!—Where are the bathrooms! and he said with some concern, "Are you alright, sir?" Now, never mind that I thought I was walking like a stud in his prime, so, I said, indignantly, "Do I look like I am not alright?" and he gave me a look that seemed to say, "Hey, dude, I can't believe you actually walked in here on your own power."
Fortunately, they had a first aid station that served Guinness on tap.
"Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through
(Everybody say I'm cool) (he's cool)
I can't complain, but sometimes I still do
Life's been good to me so far. . ."
—Joe Walsh, "Life's Been Good to Me So Far"
Joe Walsh. And according to the song, he lost his license, so I'm assuming he couldn't drive 55, but than again neither could Sammy Hagar.
ReplyDeleteNice seeing you,you are a Peacemaker now..
