While we were on the beach in San Diego last week, the grandkids spent some quality time at Belmont Park riding the old, rickety rollercoaster. Here's an action shot I took of Weston, riding alone near the back of the cars—at top. (hint: he has a name tag sticker on his forehead):
The grandkids asked me what it would take for me to want to ride and here's what I told them it would take:

An excellent piece on AI in the new issue of The New Yorker by Joshua Rothman. Cliff Notes version…"A feeling of overstimulation is one consequence of algorithmic life." And, "Our attention is fractured. . ." And, "Exploring computer-generated culture might lead us to value even more the culture that only we can generate." Then this: "Even as culture changes, it's usually additive rather than zero-sum. It preserves itself through time, as if secreting its own amber."
