A Bridge of Blood Too Far?

Our art director, Dan The Man Harshberger rejected the cover I posted this morning, saying it didn't show any emotion and there is no blood on the cowboy. So I went home for lunch and tweaked it.

Now, I'm worried I pushed it too bloody far!
