Just got the news that our good friend Jay Dusard has passed. I last saw him earlier this year when the Cattletrack boys, Mark McDowell and Brent Bond and I drove down to Douglas to celebrate his 88th birthday and present him with this year's True Westerner Award.

Oh, how he will be missed by many. I haven't seen Jay in quite a few years, but we chatted by phone and email. His stunning photography lives on, of course, and will register with all those who love the beauty and grit of the West. We shared a love of a good horse and of Western writers; and we exchanged many thoughts on riding and books over the years. Rest in peace, my friend; thank you so for the visits, the ride on Bonnie, and those high-top boots. You will live on in our memories.
