Such a transitional figure. He not only made it okay for Country folk to smoke pot, he also bulldozed the way to "long-haired Country boys" and he did it with pigtails!
Yes, this was taken from a promo shot of Willie Nelson as he appeared in the film Barbarosa. What most people don't know is that this is the sugarloaf hat style that the producers of Lonesome Dove wanted Robert Duvall to wear, but he balked at the radical Mexican headgear and, instead, opted for the now classic Gus. Of course both hats are classic to me, but out of the two I think Willie is the more brave one for having donned the big shade tree Mexican sugarloaf without hesitation.
