Back from a long road trip. Good to be home. One of the highlights was pulling into Gila Bend and it was 110 degrees (in Buckeye it was also 110). Yes, this is an obscure, but classic, lyric from a legendary honkytonk band from the Old Pueblo.
"In Gila Bend it's 110, in Buckeye it's 102
Summer's here and I just can't find a way to stop lovin' you. . ."
—The Dusty Chaps, "Heatsroke"
(bonus lyric: "Chili today, hot tamale. . ."

Love the lyrics! I will be a transplant to Kingman, been vacationing there for around 10 years, and filled water line ditches a couple of times in 109 °F and it is completely tolerable. Different and tolerable.

ReplyDeleteYou picked a good week to be gone, Bob.
I'm feeling a cool breeze out of Cave Creek today.
