The Lost Guidon

August 4, 2011

Got an invite from my good friend Jim Hatzell to attend the annual Artist Ride near Rapid City, South Dakota. Jim rounds up a ton of excellent authentic cowboys and indians and longhorns and wagons and gear and visiting artists can art direct the models for three days in spectacular scenery. Obviously this is a very cool deal and I would love to go, but I seem to have conflicting commitments in mid-August, and this year is no exception. Going to make a concerted effort to make it next year.

Last night I painted three moody skies during a monsoon storm (no rain, but plenty of lightning). This morning I grabbed one of them and added a cavalry rider.

This is "The Lost Guidon."
