Old School Cars, Posters & Mexican Cowgirls

 April 15, 2023

In my history talks when I tell the story of buying a fake photograph of Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid at the Longhorn Museum near Moriarty, New Mexico in 1958, I often include the detail that my dad was driving this model of car, which he was.

A 1957 Ford Fairlane with a customized continental kit on the back

(although without the fender skirts).

Meanwhile, I absolutely love old Nouveau posters like this one.

Thanks to my friend Scott Matula we now know this was executed by Adolf Hohenstein. So dang cool. Look at those hands!

On our way to the Saguaro Lake history talk on the Desert Belle Cruise, we stopped in Fountain Hills to visit with Carole and John "Bud" Glenn.

I am always on the lookout for old school Mexican cowgirls and here is a classic.

Dig the saddle, dig the hat and the dog.
Sweet.
