Who Was the Girl In The Flatbed Ford?

 May 2, 2024

Dan The Man just back from vacation and he got right down to starting on Volume III of The 66 Kids.

Jugs Iced Free!

Yes, this is Dorothy Malone with a thermos that Dan put in her hand. And don't you know, every kid who iced a jug, like me, wanted the person who needed her jug iced, to look like this!

And, for your viewing pleasure, here's a new Dan-O-Rama Bozecard for your sneak peek approval.

The Girl In The Flatbed Ford

And who was this girl in the flatbed Ford? Turns out it was Phyllis Lewis of Winslow.

"My dad was one of the town docs. During the summer between my freshman and sophomore year in college, I returned to Winslow as part of a job corps program.  I taught reading to the inmates (drunk tank, petty crimes) at the Winslow jail.    As a joke, I chose James Bond’s number and got photographed.  Sorry.   Nothing more exciting than that."
—Phyllis Lewis

"Well, I'm standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see. It's a girl my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin' down to take a look at me. . ."
—Jackson Browne & Glenn Frey, "Take It Easy"
