On this date in history, back in 1850:

California became a State.
Of course at that time the state had no electricity.
It had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gun fights in the streets.
In many ways, it was just like California today,
except the women had real
boobs and the men didn't hold hands.
