Where Do Hot Rodders Come From?

April 3, 2015
As a follow-up to yesterday's blog post about seeing the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum, I was so struck by Leonardo's penchant for writing backwards in his sketchbooks. At first I thought I must be looking at the writing wrong but then one of the captions explained he did this from his youth and although there is a theory that he did it to hide his findings from competitors, that is kind of silly since all they would have to do is put it up to a mirror. Anyway. I became inspired and decided to see what my sketchbook would look like if I did everything backwards:

Bob da Kingman's Daily Whipouts Done In Reverse (or, rather, done by hitting a setting in Photoshop)

Sometimes you can tell when a kid is going to grow up to be a hell-raising hot rodder. Some say it's in the reckless way he holds the steering wheel. Others say it's the devil-may-care attitude about not being able to see over the steering wheel.

Weston Allen Bortscheller Puts The Pedal to The Metal (even though he can't reach the pedal)

Of course, he gets his middle name from this guy:

The 66 Kid points at the real 66 Kid

But, any way you look at it, he comes from a long line of hot rodders.

Meanwhile, last night, while out for a stroll, I spied this:

A Winged Cloud Chases The Moon Over Ratcliff Ridge

Yes, our grandson is in town and we are babysitting and it feels like Christmas. They came in last night at 1:30 and I woke up feeling like Santa just came in. Gee, I wonder what Ray had to say about this phenom?

"Every day is Christmas Day to a dog."
—Ray Bradbury

  1. There you go. You made my day with Weston. So glad to see some pics again of that cute little guy. Also nice picture with the cloud.
