Went home at ten this morning and fixed the water pump on our well. We were without water for the last 12 hours. Remembered what a well digger did: he opened the fuse-connector-relay-what's-that-deelie-box?, and cleaned out the bug who had crawled in between, shorted the circuit and shut down the well. Cost me $310 and I swore I would remember the lesson, so, with a feather, I cleaned out the points of cobwebs (although I didn't see any bugs). A spark set the feather on fire, but the well jumped-started back into action. How close I came to killing myself I'll probably never know, but thank god it was a feather and not my car keys (my first cartoonist-retard idea).
I've got a bunch of good responses to the winged-hat debate, but AOL won't load. They have revamped their site and it is a mess. Everyone tells me to leave AOL, but I have always stayed because I was comfortable there, and I really don't like change. Ha. This may force me to leave.
Meanwhile, our man in the midwest, Seth Hoyt, has been roaming the heartland touching base with the locals. Here he is with the director of Communication at the St. Joe Chamber, Beth Whitchurch, who, according to Seth, reads this blog. How's that for a morning surprise, Beth!
