Got up this morning and had a very nice breakfast in the Hassayampa Hotel restaurant off the main lobby. Really a beautiful restaurant with linen table cloths and Victorian ambiance. Excellent menu and good service and it's comped with the room! ($7 cash tip). In this day of prefab hashbrowns and square eggs, right off an assembly line for the quasi-Continental spread that most chains put out today, this was a total treat. The hotel also had their Best of The West-True West certificate framed and in the lobby. So I was a very happy camper. Here's one of last night's sketches done from our suite:
Left Prescott at 7:45 and headed down the hill. Building going up everywhere, huge houses, big box stores, just crazy growth. Breezy and cool when we left, brassy and boiling when we got to Cave Creek (it's supposed to hit 107 in Phoenix today).
Been working on The Endurance of The Horse ideas for an upcoming issue. May do a painting for the cover. Here's a study:
