The Oldtimer

June 4, 2019
I'm home, rested and semi-tanned. Got up this morning and bailed right into a quick study.

Daily Whip Out: "The Oldtimer"

Something, I increasingly know a thing or two about. I also know a thing or two about this old guy and what makes him so great.

Happy birthday to the Mr. Wang Dang Doodle, the heartbeat of the Rolling Stones, Mr Charlie Watts!

If you saw the wonderful movie, "Roma" you know a little bit about the richness of Mexican cinema.

Alfonso Quaron loves shooting into the sun

Alfonso Cuarón Orozco is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, and editor. His work has received critical acclaim and many accolades. He has been nominated for 10 Academy Awards and has won five, including two Best Director awards for Gravity and Roma.

I thought of him last Sunday when I shot a sequence on Sandy Beach in Puerto Penasco:

Sunday Sandy Beach Riders

When I'm in Mexico, I always think about these guys:

Tonto Apache

They loved Mexico almost as much as I do.

“Ay Chihuahua, cuantos Apaches? Cuantos Indios sin huaraches!”
—Old Vaquero Saying (Which loosely translated, means, “Yikes! How many Apache Indians are there without sandals!” )
