Billy Covers Galore!

 October 5, 2020

Home stretch on the reprise of my third and last book (I swear on a stack of books on Fred Nolan's head this is my LAST!) on this guy:

Billy Covers Galore!

FYI: this isn't even all of them! Just the ones I especially like.

Worked all weekend on rounding up elements from the above issues where we have improved or discovered new scholarship and I want to shoehorn all the new stuff into the book. Not exactly easy, it turns out. Lots of new artwork has been created in the interim (1995-2020), like this:

Daily Whip Out:
"The Dark Knight Rises"

   And this:

Daily Whip Out:
"Billy Riding With the Boys"
(Jesse Evans gang)

   And, yes, even this.

Daily Scratchboard Whip Out:
"Celsa Knew"

And, who, besides me, could forget this.

Daily Whip Out:
"Billy Explodes Into Legend"

I've even got works in progress that nobody has seen yet, except for you.

Daily Whip Out:
"The Rise of The Regulators"
(in progress)

“Reports from Lincoln County indicate a renewal of hostilities between adverse factions; both parties are in the field and a collision is imminent. If they should succeed in completely destroying each other the result would be hailed by all good citizens.”

Las Vegas Gazette, June 22, 1878

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to cover the wannabes in this last book. You know, Brushy Bill the Croquet Kid, all those pretenders. I don't want to create grievances and resentment, but I'm just tired of discussing it. What do you think?

"Having a grievance or resentment is like drinking poison and hoping it will kill the enemy."
—Nelson Mandela
