Jesse James Just Before The Storm

   This morning we put the final corrections and photo credits on the massive Mark Lee Gardner cover story on The Day Jesse James died. I have to say it is one of the best articles we have ever produced since I have been at the magazine. Mark agrees, and then some: "If you ask me, and I'm being completely objective here, it's THE best thing True West has published in its storied seventy-year history. It's a classic above all classics. Sadly, though, you and your staff will spend the rest of eternity trying to repeat—and never quite attaining—this timeless magazine masterpiece."
