The Nightman Admires His Ride And Kingman Criminals I Have Known

May 13, 2016
The Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona is launching a big Route 66 Exhibit on May 28 and they have requested several of my original art pieces to hang in the show. This is one of them:

Daily Whip Out: "The Nightman Admires His Ride"

And another favorite is this one:

Daily Whip Out: "Leaving Kingman at Dawn"

And, they even chose an old cartoon of mine. It originally ran in the Razz Revue way back in the mid-seventies, but as crude as it is, it does captures the shyster aspect of many Route 66 service stations back in the day.

Daily Whip Out: "$2 Worth of Gas"

To my knowledge, none of these ne'er-do-wells actually went to prison, although I have heard of several in the Flagstaff area who actually did time in the pen for ripping off tourists. All the Kingman cads got off scott free and several are considered paragons of virtue in the Kingman firmament (you can imagine what witnessing that kind of brazen criminality does to one's faith in statues of small town heroes).

"Heroes always look more like criminals to those they have vanquished."
